A complete program that grants the traveler an in-depth experience of the Tambopata amazon rainforest. It features a visit to the two main attractions of the region; The Chuncho Macaw Claylick and Sandoval Lake, both located in different ends of the Tambopata National Rerserve. It combines lodging at Wasa\u00ed Tambopata Lodge and Wasa\u00ed Maldonado Hotel.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Reception at the airport and transfer to Wasa\u00ed Maldonado Hotel, where you will receive a tropical welcome juice and a brief explanation of the trip.<\/span><\/p>

Then we will start a trip of approximately two hours to Wasa\u00ed Tambopata lodge. The trip is initially carried out by land vehicle for 47km of paved road followed by 17 km of an off-road route that<\/span><\/p>

passes through settler\u2019s farms and primary forests. This road ends in a small port in the Tambopata river where our motorboat will be waiting for us to cruise the Tambopata River downstream for approximately 20 minutes, headed towards Wasa\u00ed Tambopata Lodge (Box lunch on the route). During the journey we will have the opportunity to observe various bird species, hopefully families of capybaras, the world’s largest rodents, alligators and other wildlife.<\/span><\/p>

\u200b<\/span><\/span>Reception and accommodation at the Lodge. Introductory nocturnal walk to understand rainforest ecosystems and see and listen to the insects, bats, frogs, and perhaps some occasional encounter with a nocturnal mammal. Early wake up around 4:30 a.m. and begin with our 60-minutes journey upstream to the Macaw Clay Lick \u2018El Chuncho\u2019 in the Tambopata National Reserve. We will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful natural sceneries and wildlife of the riverbanks. At our arrival, if weather permits,<\/span><\/p>

we will observe one of the greatest wildlife spectacles where hundreds of parrots and different species of macaws gather to eat clay. We will have breakfast while we wait for the macaws to arrive.<\/span><\/p>

Halfway through the morning we will return to Wasa\u00ed Tambopata Lodge. This river route goes through the Tambopata National Reserve offering the best chance to watch wildlife in the region. We can find animals such as capybaras, tapirs, monkeys and with luck: jaguars. At your arrival,\u00a0 you can relax in the hammocks or have the chance of swimming in the Tambopata River. Those who want, can join us to fish where inhabit more than 250 species of fish. Lunch will be served between 1:00 to 1:30 p.m.<\/span><\/p>

\u200b<\/span><\/span>After lunch, we will make a short ethno botanical walk of 1 km to learn about plants and how they integrate with the ecosystem. You will find out about medicinal plants and other uses that the native communities give them. We can see walking palm trees, sacred lupuna trees, hollow trees inhabited by ants and more. After breakfast we will make a trip by boat and land vehicle to Wasa\u00ed Maldonado Hotel, in Puerto Maldonado where we will relax in our rooms and enjoy a tasty lunch. After lunch, we will leave and cruise the Madre de Dios river for 30 minutes until we reach the trail that leads to Sandoval lake, then take a 3 km hike to the banks of the lake. There we will board a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the landscape and observing the wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique pre-historic looking birds), monkeys, etc. If we are lucky, we could see the family of giant otters which live at the lake.<\/span><\/p>

\u200b<\/span><\/span>As the sun begins to set we will initiate our walk back and then cruise back to Wasa\u00ed Maldonado Hotel. After dinner you will be able to rest or enjoy the pool and its cascade surrounded by verdant vegetation. Rest of the night free to enjoy the night life of this welcoming city. Night at<\/span><\/p>
