Since 1997, we at WASAI Lodge & Expeditions have been dedicated to promoting the conservation of natural resources through educational tours in the Amazon rainforest. Our programs are specifically designed for high school and university students, as well as any groups interested in deepening their understanding of this unique ecosystem.
Workshop Overview
Our Amazon Workshops are structured as immersive experiences that foster a greater comprehension of the rainforest environment. Each program is tailored to stimulate awareness and create memorable travel experiences. The workshops can be specialized based on specific themes or objectives.
Comprehensive Learning Experience
Each Amazon Workshop consists of a variety of activities that explore the rainforest’s multifaceted environment, including:
Natural History: General ecology and adaptations, featuring field methods for studying plants and animals, guided by experienced field biologists.
Cultural History: Engaging visits to local colonists and native communities to learn about their adaptations to life in the rainforest.
Economic History: Investigating the principal products extracted from the region, such as gold and Brazil nuts.
Participants are organized into teams of 5 or 6 to ensure effective communication and enhance the overall experience. This structure promotes safety during field activities and fosters a collaborative learning environment.
Expert Guidance
Our workshops are led by a team of professional guides and specialized biologists, all with extensive experience teaching high school and university students. The workshops often contribute to ongoing research projects, allowing participants to engage in preliminary data analysis. A report summarizing findings is shared with workshop participants, further enriching their educational experience.

While some activities may involve strenuous hiking, others offer more leisurely explorations around the lodge or on the water. Our instructors are trained to handle emergencies, and our teams carry recommended emergency equipment.
