Shaman’s Hostel

Shaman’s Hostel is a recent establishment created to receive travelers who do not wish to spend much and who want to sleep surrounded by jungle, without getting too far from Puerto Maldonado.

This place used to be the home of a local ayahuasca shaman, but has been remodeled to receive guests. It has a shared room with 4 beds and a common bathroom area. It also has ample space in its gardens for those who wish to camp. It is located next to the Madre de Dios River and surrounded by secondary forest.

What can be done here?

This hostel is an ideal place to disconnect a few days and live in nature, sharing with people who have the same plan. The largest parrot claylick in Puerto Maldonado is just 10 minutes from the hostel walking. Every day at dawn hundreds of parrots (and sometimes macaws) gather on a clay wall to ingest salts and minerals vital to their diet.

Just 15 minutes away by bicycle is Cachuela Center, a place where you can perform activities such as Zip Line, climb a 35-meter observation tower and walk through the canopy bridges over 15 meters from the ground. In Cachuela Center there is also a lake / fish farm where you can try your luck fishing or take the canoe and go around.

For those who are looking for a spiritual experience this hostel can also be an attractive option, because in the Cachuela Center there is also a maloka or ceremonial building where a shaman who resides in the area performs ayahuasca ceremonies. Contact us for further information.

How to get here?

The hostel is located at km9 of the carretera cachuela, approximately 20 minutes by car from Puerto Maldonado. You can take a taxi there or we also have free daily departures from Wasai Hotel leaving at 7am approx. If you wish to come with us, you can contact us beforehand and we will wait for you.
