Alto Tambopata Campsite

The Alto Tambopata Campsite is located in the upper part of the Tambopata River, at the confluence of the Malinowsky River with the Tambopata River. It is just beyond the control post in the limit of the Tambopata National Reserve, which makes it one of the most isolated accommodation in the area, in the heart of the Amazon

Due to the geological formation, the soil of this area is rich in mineral salts that is used as part of the daily diet of hundreds of parrots, parakeets and macaws, as well as large mammals, capybaras, monkey tapirs and even jaguars. We have a trail network monitored with trap cameras that confirm the presence of this lush wildlife.

The nearby attractions are the great macaw clay lick, half an hour upstream, a large mammal salt lick that can be reached on foot, an 8km trail network through primary forest, fishing opportunities, beaches along the river and small lakes with abundant wildlife hidden in the surroundings.

For the traveler’s acommodation there is a private matrimonial room with an excellent view of the river and with privacy. There are adjoining rooms on the second floor of the building and it also has two-person tents. There is a dining room and a kitchen where passengers can share and it has common bathrooms and showers. There is also a hammock area, campfire area and barbecue grills.
