Amazon Adventure Tambopata 4/3

Adventurous off-road trip in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest. This eco tour will allow you to learn about the Amazon jungle in an unforgettable experience, combining trekking, visits to the largest Macaw’s clay lick known on world, wildlife observation in the upper Tambopata River, and adventure activities surrounded by pristine rainforest in one of the best amazon lodges.

Day 1 Transfer to Wasai Tambopata Lodge | Night Walk

A staff member will be waiting for you at the airport to transfer you to Wasai Puerto Maldonado Ecolodge, where you will be welcomed with a delicious tropical juice. After a brief explanation of the tour and accommodating the luggage, we will start a trip of approximately two hours to Wasai Tambopata lodge.
The trip is initially carried out by land vehicle for 47km of paved road followed by 17 km of an off-road route that passes through settler’s farms and primary forests. This road ends in a small port in the Tambopata river where our motorboat will be waiting for us to cruise the Tambopata River downstream for approximately 20 minutes, headed towards WASAI Tambopata Lodge (Box lunch on the route). During the journey we will have the opportunity to observe various bird species, hopefully families of capybaras, the world largest rodents, alligators and other wildlife. Reception and accommodation at the Lodge.
Introductory nocturnal walk to understand rainforest ecosystems and see and hear some of the amazing insects, bats, frogs, and perhaps some occasional encounter with other nocturnal mammals. Return to the lodge for dinner. We will enjoy diverse sounds of the jungle which will accompany our first night in the Amazon. Night at WASAI Tambopata Lodge. (BL,D)

Day 2 Chuncho Macaw’s Clay Lick | Ethnobotanical Walk | Cayman Search

Early wake up around 4:30 am to take a light breakfast (coffee or mate), to begin with our 90-minutes journey upstream to the Macaw Clay Lick “El Chuncho” in the Tambopata National Reserve and at the border of Bahuaja-Sonene National Park. We will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful natural sceneries and wildlife of the riverbanks. At our arrival, if weather permits, we will observe one of the greatest wildlife spectacles where hundreds of parrots and different species of macaws gather in the clay lick to eat it, an unforgettable experience.

Then we will walk through the river beach searching for animal footprints while we have refreshment.

Halfway through the morning we will return to Wasai Tambopata Lodge, located at the entrance of the National Park, 1 hour away from the Macaw Clay Lick. A great cruise ride through the best of the Tambopata Reserve, with opportunities to see capybaras, tapirs, monkeys and with luck: jaguars. This route is well known for its biodiversity, offering the best chances to observe wildlife in the amazon.

At your arrival, you can relax in the hammocks or go swimming in the Tambopata River. Those who want, can go for a brief fishing session in the river inhabited by more than 250 species of fish. Lunch will be served between 1:00 to 1:30 p.m.

After lunch, we will have an ethno botanical walk through the jungle to learn about plants and medicinal trees of the Tambopata rainforest; and to observe the complex jungle ecosystem where we will find walking palm trees, giant and sacred lupuna trees, natural dyes and so on. At nightfall, we embark the boat again and slowly cruise the river in darkness in search for caymans.

Day 3 Kayaking | Adventure Circuit

Awakening at the lodge is one of the most impressive spectacles of sound and color in the Amazon. Visitors may rest, take a coffee or walk through the surroundings of the lodge by themselves or with the assistance of a guide until breakfast and see many different types of birds, butterflies, mammals and tropical flowers, typical of the amazon rainforest.

Breakfast will take place between 7:00 to 9:00 am, and then the guide will do a brief training on kayaking. After that you will start your Kayak adventure downstream with the guide paddling next to you. The navigation is usually quite peaceful as you are surrounded by vegetation, wildlife and gentle waters. The ride ends on a beach by the river bank where you can take a swim for a while. There will be a motorized boat with the group for any needed assistance.

Return to the lodge at midday to have lunch and a rest.

In the afternoon, we will make a short walk where the adventure complex is located. There you will be able to enjoy different adventure activities between the trees: Suspended bridges, Zip Lines of over 100 m, rope bridge, floating ropes, tri lines, etc.

Day 4 Transfer to Puerto Maldonado

Breakfast .You will wake up with the beautiful sunrise of the jungle to leave the lodge.

Road trip to Puerto Maldonado, transfer to the airport.

During the way back you will still have the opportunity to see wild animals and enjoy the fresh morning of the Peruvian Rainforest. Depending on your departure flight you can enjoy our hotel facilities in Puerto Maldonado as the swimming pool or the beautiful surroundings. (B )
